<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element offering high photoelectric conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element comprises a first electrode, a second electrode 3 facing the first electrode 2, an electron transport layer 1 on the side of the first electrode facing the second electrode, a photosensitizer 5 supported on the electron transport layer, and a positive-hole transport layer 4 intervening between the first electrode and the second electrode.
