<p>A curved ion guide (40) installed in a cell chamber (43) of a collision cell (4) includes four curved rod electrodes (412, 414) which are arranged surrounding a curved central axis (O), and a curved cylindrical resistive element (42) surrounding the curved rod electrodes. A high-frequency voltage is applied to the four curved rod electrodes and mutually different DC voltages are applied to the entrance side end part and the exit side end part of the resistive element. Thereby, superposing a high-frequency electric field for ion focusing in the space surrounded by the curved rod electrodes forms a deflecting DC electric field for attracting an ion toward the inside of the curve, and the intensity of the DC electric field decreases in a direction from the entrance side to the exit side. The ion introduced into the collision cell comes into contact with CID gas and dissociates, whereby the kinetic energy of the ion is decreased with the progression of the ion. However the force attracting the ion to the inside of the curve is reduced as well, and thus the ion can be efficiently guided to the exit of an ion guide by avoiding an insufficient curve and an excessive curve.</p> |
