This display device is provided with: a casing having a back cabinet; a flat display panel installed within the casing; a backlight device (4) disposed at the back-surface-side of the flat display panel; and a circuit board constituting a drive circuit for displaying an image at the flat display panel. The back cabinet (7) is provided with a space that can house the backlight device (4) and the circuit board, and the backlight device (4) and the circuit board are housed and attached within the back cabinet (7). Furthermore, the present invention is packaged and transported with a dummy panel (30) having the same shape as the flat display panel disposed at the position at which the flat display panel is housed. The present invention exhibits the effects of preventing damage to the flat display panel and not requiring separate packaging members for packaging the backlight device and the circuit board.
