A ferrite sintered magnet which is characterized by having: a main phase that is composed of a ferrite having a hexagonal M-type magnetoplumbite structure; a grain boundary phase that contains Si and Ca and has a lower La atomic ratio than the main phase; and a third phase that contains La and has a higher La atomic ratio than the main phase. A method wherein a ferrite sintered magnet having the above-described third phase is produced: by blending more La in comparison to Ca when a starting material is prepared and calcinating the starting material; adding more than 1% by mass but 1.8% by mass or less of SiO2 and 1-2% by mass (inclusive) of CaCO3 in terms of CaO to the thus-obtained calcinated body; and then pulverizing, molding and firing the resulting material. |
