The method involves measuring variable tension of thread by using sensor. The measured variable tension of thread is compared with desired value. The actuating signal is generated for thread tensioner to adjust tension of thread based on comparison result. The remaining thread length on spinning cops (9) is measured. The empirical values for control signal of thread tensioner are determined based on measured residual length of thread on spinning cops so as to control tension of thread tensioner when failure of sensor is detected. An independent claim is included for bobbin winding machine.
