The rear seat assembly (10) has a backrest portions (14,16) arranged between an upright seating position and a stowed position, where rear face of backrest portion (16) is aligned with a trunk of motor vehicle. A securing element (20) for securing the load, is provided at the rear side of backrest portion (16), and is movable between a stowed position in which securing element rests against the rear face and securing position in which the securing element is vertically protruded along a side edge (24) of the backrest portion (16) to the rear face.
