System for use in water treatment processes, in which the ion exchange medium is periodically passed in the opposite direction to the flow of impure water without interrupting the flow of treated water. The conical working vessel is directly connected to a washing and regenerating column and the only mechanically moving part in the circuit is a reversing valve at the base of the working vessel by which impure water is passed periodically in the opposite direction through the regenerator column and displaces regenerated, washed ion exchange agent into the working vessel, whilst receiving exhausted ion exchange agent from the base thereof. On reversal of this valve the exhausted resin passes into the regenerating column. For constant composition water the cycle may be made completely automatic. |
