<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display element for achieving a uniform thickness of a liquid crystal layer. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a liquid crystal display device includes the steps of: providing a second transparent protective film agent 8' on a second transparent substrate 5 to form a second uniformizing substrate 50; arranging the second uniformizing substrate 50 and a first uniformizing substrate 10 with a first transparent protective film 4 formed thereon so that their corresponding pixel regions Dp align with each other; bringing the first uniformizing substrate 10 and the second uniformizing substrate 50 close to each other and transferring the surface shape of the first transparent protective film 4 onto the second transparent protection film agent 8'; curing the second transparent protective film agent 8'; and joining, in a state where the pressing force between the first transparent protective film 4 and the second transparent protective film agent 8' is released, the first uniformizing substrate 10 and the second uniformizing substrate 50 while securing a prescribed clearance so that their corresponding pixel regions Dp align with each other.
