1291964 Snap-on caps RECKITT & COLMAN PRODUCTS Ltd 5 June 1971 19145/71 Heading B8T A plastics snap-on cap has an oval end portion 9 and a depending skirt 6 having an oval open end, the inside of the end portion 9 being provided with a ring and bead to engage a bead 13 on the neck of the container. To remove the cap, opposite sides of the skirt 6, corresponding to the major axis of the oval open end of the cap, are pressed so that the bottom of the skirt rides up the portion 12 of the bottle, and the bead on the cap slides past the bead 13. Alternatively, if the cap is turned, the bottom portions of the skirt 6 corresponding to the minor axis of the oval open end of the cap ride up the portion 12, and the cap is removed as before. The end portion 9 could be circular in shape (Figs. 1, 2, not shown). Integral ribs (10, 11) are provided to ensure proper alignment of the cap with the neck. |
