The invention relates to a method for the transverse drawing of an unoriented or longitudinally-oriented film web made from thermoplastic plastic. According to said method, an undrawn or longitudinally-drawn film ( 9 ) is introduced into a transverse drawing frame in which heater fields ( 1 ) are heated to a transverse drawing temperature T_Q, in the attached drawing fields ( 2 ) a clip chain is drawn in the transverse direction by divergent (V-shaped) guides and a temperature T_F is applied to fixing fields where T_Q>T_F. In the drawing fields and/or the heating fields ( 1 ) the boundary zones ( 5 ) of the film ( 8 ) are heated or thermally insulated such that the boundary zones ( 5 ) of the film ( 8 ) have a higher temperature than the middle of the film web ( 6 ) on transverse drawing and/or fixing.
