In the method, insoluble yellow pigment obtained from culturing thermophiles is converted into a soluble pigment by treating with Bacillus sp., Nocardia sp., or Fusarium sp. The resulting pigment 1.5kg is mixed with 40g Na-acetate, 0.08g biotin, 20g propionic acid, 20g para-amino acid, 20g thiotic acid, and trace amount of Ca(OH)2 to give a growth-stimulating agent for activated sludge.
