<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for more accurately detecting a defective pixel by detecting defective linearity. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader 50 provided with an imaging part in which a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements are arrayed comprises: a shading correction part which performs shading correction on the basis of data obtained by reading a reference surface by the photoelectric conversion elements; and a defective pixel detection part which determines an output difference between adjacent photoelectric conversion elements by use of data subjected to the shading correction by the shading correction part, and detects the defective pixel on the basis of the determination result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
