[Class 35.] In a totally-enclosed machine, the internal air flows through pipes 5 which have their radially-extending end-portions united by axial portions, and are in the path of an external air flow produced by the fan 4. A partition 7 extends close to the commutator, or, in the case of a non-commutator machine, sufficiently near to the shaft to leave only a small air passage, and at the air-outlet end of the machine, the disc of the fan 2, or a separate baffle plate, is arranged to guide the air over the armature end windings.
