<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device for improving operability in attachment/detachment to/from an image forming apparatus body and also reducing a cost by reducing the number of components, while preventing the device from becoming larger. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer device 6 configured to be attachable/detachable to/from an image forming apparatus body 10 includes: a belt 7; transfer members 11Y, 11M, 11C, 11K having contact with image carriers 1Y, 1M, 1C, 1K for carrying images via the belt 7 and also transferring the images on the image carriers 1Y, 1M, 1C, 1K onto the belt 7; and a support member for supporting the transfer members 11Y, 11M, 11C, 11K. At least one support member 25 is changed-over between a contact posture to allow the transfer member 11K to have contact with the belt 7 and a separation posture for separation.
