<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve system of an internal combustion engine that increases a frequency at which an operation state of a valve-timing variable mechanism is promptly changed from a locked state to a released state after a start of the engine and decreases a frequency at which the internal combustion engine stops without the operation state of the variable mechanism being changed from the released state to the locked state. <P>SOLUTION: The variable valve system includes: the hydraulic valve-timing variable mechanism; and a phase locking mechanism in which a relative rotation phase between input and output rotors constituting the variable mechanism is locked at an intermediate phase. After the start of the engine, when a vehicle speed is higher than "0 km/h", the operation state of the valve-timing variable mechanism is switched from the locked state to the released state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
