<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably discriminate altered note even if an authentic bill is stuck to a false bill and if a hole is formed thereon. <P>SOLUTION: A bill discrimination apparatus comprises: a primary image creating section that creates a primary image G1 using transmitted beam from a bank bill P to be checked; a hole identifying section that identifies a hole if a part generated by a hole formed on the surface of the bank bill P to be checked is found in the primary image; a secondary image creating section that creates a secondary image G2 by applying a sobel filter to the primary image G1; and a first correction section that creates a third image G3 created by converting pixel value of pixels constituting the part of the image created by applying the sobel filter to the hole in the secondary image G2, to 0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
