The apparatus (1) has a retaining surface (2) comprising two sides (3, 4), and ultrasonic transducers (5, 6) attached at one of the sides of the retaining surface. The transducers emit ultrasonic waves (7) toward the sides. Sheet-like metal elements (8, 9) are attached at one of the sides of the retaining surface and adjacent to the transducers for adjusting a radiation region of the ultrasonic transducers. The elements comprise a self-adhesive aluminum foil including an aluminum layer and an adhesive layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for generation of ultrasonic waves for a vehicle.
