A metal strip should be directly printed for the production of cans. Another embodiment provides for the formation of an inner coating closed in the circumferential direction, after the formation of the laser seam on the tubularly shaped metal strip and before the separation of individual can shells. A further development relates to the use of at least one digital printing system. All solutions are based on the knowledge that slower and faster processing steps can be combined, wherein however linear inline production must then be dispensed with and, for example, fast processing steps are performed in a single line and slow processing steps are performed in parallel lines, or simultaneously at a plurality of processing stations. The metal web of a coil can also be divided into sub-webs by means of at least one longitudinal cut before further processing. By means of the novel solutions, various decoration and inner-coating desires can be fulfilled with little effort. |
