<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing of the function of a piston ring package, and a piston ring package suitable for the same. <P>SOLUTION: A piston ring package includes a plurality of piston rings arranged in each of allotted piston ring grooves, and for each piston operation cycle, the piston ring package is loaded with a combustion pressure generated in an operation space partitioned by a piston, from above, and is loaded with a pressure under the piston, from below. In all the piston rings, a controlled leakage of a gas dropping out of the operation space is allowed, which is smaller than a configuration provided with the piston rings with slits; the leakage is individually set for each piston ring; and the allowed leakage is reduced from the piston ring the nearest adjacent to the operation space to the farthermost piston ring. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
