ASYMMETRICALLY-SHAPED MAGNETIC HEAD AND SYSTEM FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asymmetrically-shaped magnetic head and a system for the same.

SOLUTION: A magnetic head in one embodiment includes: a main magnetic pole provided with a protruding part so that a distance from a first side of a posterior edge of the main magnetic pole to an anterior edge of the main magnetic pole differs from the distance from a second side of the posterior edge of the main magnetic pole to the anterior edge of the main magnetic pole; a subsidiary magnetic pole; and a coil wound on a magnetic circuit including the main and subsidiary magnetic poles. A disk drive system in another embodiment includes; a magnetic storage medium; at least the one magnetic head for writing in a magnetic medium; a slider for supporting the magnetic head; and a control unit connected to the magnetic head for controlling operation of the magnetic head. And another system and head are also provided.
