PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection device capable of suppressing occurrence of paper powder in a printing mode in which liquid is not ejected to an edge of a printing medium, and staining of a platen in a printing mode in which the liquid is ejected to the edge of the printing medium. SOLUTION: The platen 30 includes platen ribs 32, 33 and 34. A moving device 38 which moves the platen ribs 33 and 34 between contact positions BP1 and BP2 and separation positions SP1 and SP2 is connected to the platen ribs 33 and 34. An absorber 35 is opposed to a nozzle forming surface 21a in an ejecting direction Z so as to include a printing start position SL2 through a gap between the platen ribs 33 and 34 located at the separation positions SP1 and SP2. In a margin-remaining printing mode, the moving device 38 maintains the platen ribs 33 and 34 at the contact positions BP1 and BP2. Meanwhile, in a margin-less printing mode, the moving device 38 moves the platen ribs 33 and 34 to the separation positions SP1 and SP2 after the recording paper P is arranged at the printing start position SL2.
