PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that allows preview display in parallel with reading processing, and also allows error notification during the preview display, and an information display method. SOLUTION: The image forming device 100 has a display means 117 for displaying a screen, an input means 15 for inputting image data, an output means 16 for outputting the image data, an output-image generating means 17 for generating an output image of the image data in a page unit, an output-image display means 13 for displaying the output image on the display means 117, detection means S1, S2 for detecting a state that requires user operation, and an operation screen display means 11 that displays an operation screen for user operation on the display means. When detection means detects the state that requires the user operation, the operation screen display means 11 displays the operation screen preferentially over the output image.
