<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer film which is useful as an optical compensation film of a liquid crystal display device, and which is free from coloring. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer film contains at least one polymer as a main component and at least one compound satisfying relational formulae (1) and (2) in an amount of 0.2-20 mass% with respect to at least the one polymer, wherein in-plane retardation Re(λ) at a wavelength of λ nm and thickness-direction retardation Rth(λ) at a wavelength of λ nm respectively satisfy relational formulae (3)-(6): (1) 360 nm≤λmax≤400 nm; (2) λ<SB>1/2</SB>-λmax≤20 nm (in the relational formulae, λmax represents a maximum absorption wavelength (in nm) of the compound, and λ<SB>1/2</SB>represents a wavelength with absorption intensity equal to a half of that at λmax (where λmax<λ<SB>1/2</SB>)); (3): Re(450)-Re(550)≤0 nm; (4) Rth(450)-Rth(550)≥0 nm; (5): 60 nm≤Re(550)≤100 nm; and (6) 40 nm≤Rth(550)≤80 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
