743,338. Percussive drills. KELLER, GES., J. Dec. 11, 1952 [Dec. 18, 1951], No. 31378/52. Class 124 A mounting for a rock drill which permits mobility in all directions in a plane perpendicular to the direction of drilling comprises elastic means such as springs to counteract angular deviation from the original drill axis. As shown, the drill 7 may be mounted in a ring 3 supported by springs 4, 5 and 6 from an outer ring 8 supported on a slide 2 on a carriage 1. The springs may be replaced by a soft rubber disc. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the drill may be mounted in fork pivotally supported in one end of a lever which, in turn, is pivotally supported on a ball and socket joint, the other end of the lever being attached to the free end of a spring anchored to the slide, or to a counter weight, cord and pulley arrangement. A device indicating deviations from the original axis may be incorporated in the mounting. |
