The actuating element (2) has a cylindrically formed armature (16) which is formed slidably in the actuator. An extruding press process is used for forming the armature. The lateral surface (18) and the base surface (21) of the armature are formed with the extruding press process. The lateral surface of the armature has a groove (20), over which two spaces (19) communicates with each other. The spaces are separated in axial direction by the armature. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an actuating element for an electromagnetic actuator of a hydraulic valve.
