The method includes receiving a first signal (S301) including assumed configuration data; determining (S302) an availability of a wireless communications connection using the assumed configuration data; sending an association request message (S307), if it is determined that the wireless communications connection is available; and receiving a second signal including connection configuration data (S310), which is different from the assumed configuration data, in response to the association request message.
