The distal radius fixation system comprises a precontoured volar bone plate, a pin-plate and a slotted head screw with a top screw-cap. The bone plate has a most distal row of screw holes in tooth-like extensions a, especially designed for very distal fractures or those involving the volar lip. The bone plate has slots e for wires to allow adjustment in position without committing a screw hole. The non-perpendicular screws through holes i withstand higher pullout forces and therefore shorter plates with fewer screws in the proximal part can be used. The shim of the targeting assembly allows for removal of most of the drill sleeves by unscrewing one screw. The pin plate and the slotted head screw can obviate the need of traditional k-wiring. |
