The present invention relates to a flexible sealing membrane that is particularly useful for covering roofs. The flexible sealing membrane is usable for sealing substantially planar surfaces such as roofs or the like, said membrane being essentially water- and steam-tight, characterized in that said membrane does not contain any bitumen or bitumen derivative and also characterized in that said membrane is essentially formed of at least one thermoplastic (co)polyurethane or thermoplastic (co)polyamide, thus ensuring the essentials of said sealing functions, said thermoplastic (co)polyurethane(s) or thermoplastic (co)polyamide(s) each containing at least one natural monomer that is integrated into the (co)polymer during the polymerization(s) thereof.
