An antistatic polyolefine comprises 2-9% of a mixture of (a) 20-80% of one or more polyethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers, i.e. R1-O-(C2H4O)xH where R1 is a saturated o unsaturated C6- 18 alkyl group and x is 2-300, and (b) 80-20% of one or more polyethylene glycol monoaralkyl ethers, i.e. R2-Ar-O-(C2H4O)xH, where R2 is a saturated or unsaturated C1- 18 alkyl groups, Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon radical and x is 2-300. The polyolefine may be polyethylene or polypropylene. The ethers may be heptaethylene glycol monolauryl and heptaethylene glycol monononylphenyl ethers. The composition may contain one or more other antistatic substances, e.g. 0.3-2% of an ester, i.e. R1-COO(C2H4O)xH where R1 is as befor or C12- 24 aralkyl groups and x is 2-10; or a glycol, i.e. HO(C2H4O)xH where x is 3-10. In an example, 2,2-thio-bis-(4-methyl-6-tert.-butylphenol) was used as stabilizer for the polyethylene. |
