PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting technique of a glass film where the occurrence of a micro cracks to cause damages on the cut end surface of the glass film is reduced simply and certainly. SOLUTION: In a method for cutting the glass film to cut the glass film 1, an initial crack 5 is developed along a cutting schedule line 2 by forming the initial crack 5 on a part of the cutting schedule line 2 in a state that tensile stress 3 acts to the cutting schedule line 2 on the glass film 1 and then the glass film 1 is cut.
