<p>Disclosed is a wire grid polarizer (WG) which has a region wherein linear conductive wires are repetitively formed periodically at a constant pitch (P), and a region (A) wherein the wires are formed at a pitch larger than the constant pitch (P). The region (A) wherein the linear conductive wires are formed at the pitch larger than the constant pitch (P), and a black matrix (2b) provided in a liquid crystal display panel are formed such that the region and the black matrix at least partly overlap each other in plane view. Therefore, deterioration of display qualities can be suppressed even in the case wherein the large-area wire grid polarizer (WG) is provided, said large-area wire grid polarizer having the region wherein the periodicity of the linear conductive wire pattern at a pitch shorter than the wavelength of light used for display is broken.</p> |
