SYSTEM AND METHOD TO INSULATE TURBINE AND ASSOCIATED PIPING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method to insulate turbines and associated piping.

SOLUTION: The insulation system (1) includes at least one turbine insulation compartment (2) configured to enclose at least a portion of a turbine (12); an insulation storage compartment (4) configured to store a supply source of insulation material (28); a plurality of first pipes (8, 10) connecting to the turbine insulation compartment (2) and the insulation material storage compartment (4); and a blower (6) configured to generate a flow of air in at least one first pipe to pneumatically convey the insulation material between the insulation storage compartment and the at least one turbine heat insulation compartment. The method of insulating at least a portion of the turbine includes a step of enclosing at least a portion of the turbine in the compartment; and a step of conveying the insulation material into the compartment.
