METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING LIGHT SOURCE IN IMAGE SCANNING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: A light source control method and apparatus for an image scanning device are provided to control the intensity of light emitted from a light source by detecting a shading level which indicates the intensity of light reflected off a reference surface. CONSTITUTION: A light source(110) emits light on a reference surface having a specific reflectivity. A detecting unit(130) detects a shading level indicating the intensity of light reflected off the reference surface. A storing unit(140) stores a reference level indicating the reflectivity of the reference surface. A comparing unit(160) compares the detected shading level with the stored reference level. A light intensity controller(170) control the intensity of light emitted from the light source using the detected shading level and the reference level based on the result of the comparing unit.
