摘要 An organic phosphite ester, preferably having a mol. wt. of at least 100, and with a recurring structural unit of formula <FORM:1006580/C3/1> in which Q is the arylene residue of a dihydric phenol or a halogen derivative thereof may be prepared by transesterifying a 3,9-dialkoxy-, or diaryloxy - 2,4,8,10 - tetraoxa - 3,9 - diphosphaspiro [5,5]-undecane (see Specification 32476/61) with a di-(hydroxyacryl) alkylidene, a di-(hydroxyhaloary)alkylidene, dihydroxydiphenyl, a monocyclic dihydric phenol, a di(hydroxyary) sulphone, a di - (hydroxyaryl)-sulphide, a di - (hydroxyaryl)sulphoxide, or hydrogenated bisphenol A, by heating with a transesterification catalyst. If desired, part of the dihydroxy compound may be replaced by a dihydric alcohol. In a further modification the spiro compound may be formed in situ from pentacrylthritol and a tertiary phosphite. The mol. wt. of the products may be controlled by addition of monofunctional reactants, e.g. decyl or stearyl alcohol, phenol, cresol or nonyl phenol. Reaction may be in presence of a catalyst, e.g. diphenyl phosphite, didecyl phosphite, phenyl decyl phosphite, di-(2-methylphenyl) di - (4 - dodecylphenyl)phosphite, di - (2 - chlorophenyl)phosphite, di - (2,4 - dimethylphenyl)phosphite, di - (4bromophenyl) phosphite, dioctadecyl phosphite, sodium phenolate, sodium decylate, potassium cresylate, sodium ethylate, or sodium octadecanolate. In examples diphenyl pentacrythritol diphosphite and diphenyl phosphite were heated with (1), (2) and (12) bisphenol A; (3) di - (4 - hydroxyphenyl) sulphone; (6) tetrachlorobisphenol A; (7) a mixture of bisphenol A and diethylene glycol; (8) resorcinol; (9) hydrogenated bisphenol A; (10) bis - (3methyl - 4 - hydroxy - 5 - t. - butylphenyl)methane; (11) tetrabromobisphenol. In Examples (4), (5) a mixture of bisphenol A, triphenyl phosphite and pentacrylthritol were heated in presence of diphenyl phosphite. The products are useful as stabilizers for polymeric materials, flame retardants, dyeing assistants, anti-static agents, lubricating additives, or plasticizers.
