PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent dispersion liquid of alkaline earth metal oxide-doped zirconia nanoparticles and a transparent composite, maintaining a high refractive index and high transparency as well as high durability. SOLUTION: The transparent dispersion liquid of alkaline earth metal oxide-doped zirconia nanoparticles is prepared by dispersing alkaline earth metal oxide-doped zirconia nanoparticles in a dispersion medium, the nanoparticles prepared by incorporating an alkaline earth metal oxide containing at least one kind of element selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, as a solid solution into zirconia, and having a dispersion particle diameter of 1 nm or more and 20 nm or less.
