The present invention discloses a system and a method for paging in a flattened mobile communication network, with the purpose of paging in a mobile communication network, wherein the method includes: a core network sending a paging message to a certain enhanced base station in a location area; the certain enhanced base station forwarding the paging message to the target cell of the paging directly, or forwarding the paging message to the rest of the enhanced base stations in the location area and the rest of the enhanced base station forwarding the paging message to the target cell. The technical scheme of the present invention is applicable to a network which divides enhanced base transceiver stations (eBTSs) into two layers, simplifies the calculation amount of paging forward module greatly, and improves the work efficiency.
