PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the operation of a client device in accordance with a status of a server device.

SOLUTION: A DHCP server 10 determines a request signal to be sent out to a DHCP client 20 from among a plurality of types of request signals and sends out to the DHCP client 20 a re-acquisition request including signal identification information for identifying the determined request signal. If the DHCP client 20 receives the re-acquisition request sent from the DHCP server 10, the DHCP client 20 sends out to the DHCP server 10 a request signal corresponding to the signal identification information included in the received re-acquisition request.
