The invention relates to an economical method for purifying or extracting analytes which are present in complex, especially nonpolar substance mixtures. The substance mixture is applied in a water-free medium to a solid phase functionalized with hydrazine groups, the medium is removed and the solid phase is then washed with an organic solvent. After washing, the solid phase is eluted with a mixture of an organic solvent and an aqueous acid to release the carbonyl compound, and the carbonyl compound is obtained dissolved in the organic solvent and the aqueous acid.
