In an active matrix type display device, during a k-th period consecutive in the order of k that indicates a horizontal period (where k is an integer from 0 to n), a signal is output to each of data signal lines (S1 to S2773) sequentially with lines, the signal having a voltage polarity that uses a common voltage as a polarity reference, is unchanged, and has a polarity opposite to a signal output to an adjacent data signal line. A picture element, the signal of which is completed to be written during the k-th period, is selected so as to be conductive to a data signal line connected from during the (k-1)-th period until during the k-th period. In the k-th period satisfying the condition 1 = k = n-1 in an effective display region, a signal that has been output during the (k-1)-th period is output to a data signal line (S1 or S2773) that is not connected to a picture element, the signal of which is completed to be written during the k-th period.</p>
