The furniture (10) has a receiver (20) and/or converter for receiving electromagnetic waves that are transmitted from a laser, and converting the energy transmitted from received electromagnetic waves into electrical energy. The electrical energy is directly or indirectly used for operating an electrical device e.g. display, and light source such as LED, organic LED or halogen lamp. A storage medium i.e. accumulator, is provided for storing the electrical energy, and the receiver and/or converter is designed as a photovoltaic cell (21).
