PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a light-storing material having excellent afterglow properties and high luminance. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a light-storing material by mixing a material to become a mother crystal of light-storing material, activator powder and activation auxiliary powder, sintering or melting the mixture optionally using a flux in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and making metal ions constituting the activator and the activation auxiliary enter into the inside of the mother crystal, EuO synthesized by heating Eu(III) complex is used as the activator.
