摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead alloy which can be utilized in the production of the positive grid of a lead acid battery and which can withstand the high temperature corrosion of the underhood environment of an automobile. SOLUTION: The lead acid battery grid is made from a lead-based alloy containing calcium, tin, and silver and has the following composition: >0.06 to <0.082% calcium, >1.0% to <1.2% tin, 0.005 to 0.020% silver, and optionally containing up to 0.025% aluminum. To enhance corrosion resistance and reduce grid growth, the grid optionally may contain 0.005 to 0.05% copper as an alloying element complementary to and as a replacement for part of the silver, provided the silver content does not fall below 0.005% and no more than trace of aluminum is present.
