<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slice determining device, a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, a slice determining method, and a program by which a slice can be determined to an optimum position with respect to each subject. <P>SOLUTION: A line segmentαβlying on a reference axis V is rotated by a rotational angleΦ=Φ1 about an origin O of the reference axes V and W. With the rotation of the line segmentαβby the rotational angleΦ1, pointsαandβare shifted to pointsα' andβ' respectively.
