PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file server operation support technology for reducing an increase in the number of documents in a file server of a company. SOLUTION: In the file server operation support device, an operation support server 104 is provided with a deleted document storage area 217 for temporarily storing a document deleted from a file server based on a user's instruction. A search server 105 is provided with a metadata DB 106 for recording metadata of a document to search for the document in the file server, and an index DB 107 for recording a search index that is text data of a document file. The operation support server 104 includes a search screen display unit 201, a metadata editing screen display unit 202, a storage period determination unit 203, a similar document determination unit 204, a search query preparing unit 205, a search result display unit 206, a document list output unit 207, and a document operation unit 208 for deleting a file of a search result.
