PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein gradation luminance characteristics in an oblique direction is improved, and luminance reduction is suppressed in the liquid crystal display device used for a display part of a TV receiver or an electronic device, particularly in the liquid crystal display device wherein a polymerizable material mixed in a liquid crystal material is polymerized to apply a pretilt angle to the liquid crystal material. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a TFT substrate 2 and a counter substrate 4 disposed opposite to each other; and a liquid crystal composition 30 encapsulated between the both substrates 2 and 4 and containing the liquid crystal material and a polymer. A pixel region of the liquid crystal display device has: a first sub pixel 20 wherein a first pixel electrode 21 electrically connected to a source electrode 10b of a TFT 10 via a connection electrode 11 is formed; and second sub pixels 22 and 24 wherein a control capacitance is formed between the connection electrode 11 and the second sub pixels sandwiching a protective film 27, and second pixel electrodes 23 and 25 separated from the first pixel electrode 21 are formed.
