<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform initialization of a frame memory in an image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate form preserving means 304 for preserving image data in an intermediate form; a multivalue drawing means 305 for drawing on a color plane, an attribute plane and semi-transparent plane from a drawing object preserved in the intermediate form; a color converting means 306 for executing color conversion on each object from the images drawn by the multivalue drawing means; a CMYK2 value converting means 307 for converting from the color converting means 306 to a CMYK2 value form; and an initialization means for initializing a color value expressing plane, an attribute plane, a semi-transparency expressing plane. In the image forming apparatus, the initialization means has an initialization flag on the attribute plane, and when the initialization flag is set, the color value expressing plane and the semi-transparent plane are not initialized.
