The arrangement has a central control cylinder (1) arranged for controlling an assigned working cylinder (2), where the axially supported cylinders are arranged tangential to each other and lateral surfaces of the cylinders roll mutually. An impulse vane (5) is arranged at the lateral surface of the working cylinder. The control cylinder and the working cylinder run in a common turbine case (3). The control cylinder and the working cylinder are mutually sealed by the lateral surfaces. A slot (8) is arranged in the external lateral surface of the control cylinder. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a rolling piston steam engine.
