<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module, reduced in damages on a mounted component by easing an impact wave caused by collision between a ferrule and a fiber stab in insertion of an optical connector. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the optical module provided with a package body part mounted with an optical element and a sleeve part 3 to which the ferrule 41 of the optical connector is inserted, the sleeve part 3 includes the fiber stub 19 which optically connects the optical element to the ferrule 41, and a cushioning member 30 is disposed on the fiber stub 19 so as to project from the ferrule connecting surface. Since the ferrule 41 contacts the cushioning member 30 first, upon insertion of the optical connector 40, to deform the cushioning member 30, the impact by the collision between the ferrule 41 and the fiber stub 19 can be eased.
