Sheets of inserting paper (14) stacked on a palette (10) together with glass sheets (12) project further upward a predetermined amount than the upper side sections (12A) of the glass sheets (12). Folds (28, 28, ...) are formed at predetermined intervals on and along the projecting upper side sections (14A) of the inserting paper (14). This makes the upper side sections (14A) of the inserting paper (14) rigid against bending, so that the upper side sections (14A) do not droop down and are maintained in a raised position. In taking a glass sheet (12) out of the palette (10), the upper side portion (14A) of the inserting paper (14) can be reliably sucked by an inserting paper suction pad (30).
