<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon shaped body having a good wettability to an aqueous medium, particularly water not only in use at near room temperature, but also in use in a high temperature condition, especially in a high-temperature and low-humidity condition; and to provide a manufacturing method of the same. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon molded body is obtained by providing a hydrophilic coating formed of a carbodiimide resin having a hydrophilic group in its molecule, on a carbon substrate, and the carbodiimide resin has been modified with an organic acid. The method for manufacturing the carbon shaped body includes a resin-imparting step of coating a hydrophilicized liquid being an aqueous solution and/or an aqueous dispersion liquid of a carbodiimide resin having a hydrophilic group in its molecule on a carbon substrate, and thereafter drying the coating to impart the carbodiimide resin on the carbon substrate, an organic acid treatment step of treating the carbodiimide resin with an organic acid aqueous solution, and a water cleaning step of cleaning the treated carbon substrate with water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
